Lakeside

July 2012

This past summer, a couple of friends came to visit while I was on vacation at Lake Erie.   All of us being Electronic Media Production majors, we decided to go out one night and see what kind of pictures we could get.  We started on the dock where I took a few long exposure pictures, one of a barge in the distance, and the moon.  Later, we walked to the back of the town when a long-abandoned school is.  Below are just a few of the pictures from that night.

Germain Amphitheater

August 2011
A small group of friends and I, armed with several still and video cameras, went out to explore a recently abandoned amphitheater only 10 minutes from where we lived.  The amphitheater sat vacant for about 4 years, and signs of neglect were very evident.  From overgrown grass and bushes, to weeds popping through the parking lot pavement, to chairs ripped out of the stadium seating.  The venue was obviously in decline, but was a perfect subject for photography.  Mark, Russell, and I spent days exploring the area, photographing every possible view multiple times and exploring the entire area.  Below are only a few of the pictures we took over several days and many hours.

Stars

July 2011
Early in the summer, Russell, Mark, Tom and I went out in search of photography opportunities.  This time, we simply drove north of Columbus, hoping to get out of the ambient light of the city.  We drove about 15 miles north of the city until the stars were much more apparent.  Stopping on the side of the road on the edge of a large field, Russell parked his car as we got out.  Setting up the tripods, we enjoyed the clearness of the sky and the darkness we were looking for.  We set up the cameras and, with a long shutter speed, let them gather light for several minutes.  The result was a clear picture of the entire surroundings with stars streaking in the sky above.
