July 2011
Early in the summer, Russell, Mark, Tom and I went out in
search of photography opportunities.
This time, we simply drove north of Columbus, hoping to get out of the
ambient light of the city. We drove
about 15 miles north of the city until the stars were much more apparent. Stopping on the side of the road on the edge
of a large field, Russell parked his car as we got out. Setting up the tripods, we enjoyed the
clearness of the sky and the darkness we were looking for. We set up the cameras and, with a long
shutter speed, let them gather light for several minutes. The result was a clear picture of the entire
surroundings with stars streaking in the sky above.
